Just what is the right perfume?

The right perfume has to meld with your skin, your lifestyle, and your budget.

Skin: try it on. Walk around the store. Do not rush, nor allow yourself to be rushed, into buying.

What smells good on everyone else may not smell good on you. And vice versa. What everyone is wearing this season, may not be worth the price of the box.

Lifestyle: do you touch up? Or do you dabble on?

Do you do scented soaps, lotions, veils?

Consider lifestyle while making your choice. The pure perfume which costs more, may be better for you if it means applying only a few drops in the morning.

Eau de parfum fares better with those who apply more, but not more often.

Lighter eau de toilettes and eau de colognes please those who like to scent more area, more often.

Other forms...deodorants, veils, lotions, creams etc. complete the set for true perfume lovers.

Budget: Know thyself and thy wallet. One purchase of expensive scent can last for years.

If it's variety you crave, it may be better to try several smaller purchases.

Jewelry symbolizes health, wealth and happiness...but more than anything, it should connote taste and individuality.

Jewelry should not look as if it needs to be returned at the end of the evening.

If gold is your thing, do gold, be gold. If amber is your thing, then go and find it. If you dote upon big fake bling blings, then fake is for you.

I prefer semi-precious myself...I bring out the real stuff only on occasions.

Checking out someone's buttons, in the 1970's and 1980's, was similar to checking out their record collection. (Yes, those big, black, vinyl heavy things.)

The trick also, was to attach the buttons in a less than precise manner...and to find that coveted Marilyn Monroe button (frankly I'm still searching).

Vintage buttons.

This is pretty handy, especially if you wash your hair in the morning and don't, or can't, dry it.

Just towel-dry your hair, comb it out--if you gel, then gel by all means--bend forward, flip all your hair forward, and park this baby in.

Stand up straight and adjust the hairband. Now you're ready to drive, hit the bus or train...your hair stays put and looks neat all day.

Bonus: the teeth are long, so it'll stay put even in fine or thin hair.

An interesting texture can transform an inexpensive outfit into something unique.
