Cover Girl Outlast lipstick Posted by Josephine on 9/11/2001. This is a necessity in your life. How often you actually use it may determine how many you need to buy, but imo every woman who wears lipstick should own one of these, at least. First, the pro's: this stuff will last literally all day without touching up. It does not last until you take it off, that's crap, but it will last respectably an 8-hour workday through eating, drinking, et cetera. It does transfer, but ever so slightly. Think of the possibilities...work, school, endless parties, any occasion where touching up would be a hassle. Now the con's. You can't really control how sheerly this stuff goes on, especially if you're in a hurry (which you usually are, on Permatone days). Therefore, dark shades are tricky. It is drying...imo, not any more drying than the original "long last" lipsticks, but definitely drying. It's important to use a good, non petroleum beeswax lip balm over it...I don't use the gloss that came with it. That gloss imo is not very nice, it does the work of moisturizing your lips but it's a bit greasy and doesn't last as long as you'd like. I use Lip Trip, $3.50 at health food stores. Plus, Permatones are not cheap...the Max Factor ones are $12 full price, $9 on sale. The CG ones somewhat cheaper, say $8 on sale. I got mine at Target and Longs Drugs, about two months ago. I have and love "Berry Preserve." It's a muted berry-pink that's not too purple. I threw out "Dawn to Dusk," it was too difficult to put on...unless you carefully dabbed it into place, it turned loud fuchsia pink on. "Cinnamon Stick" is a shade I returned: dark ugly fuchsia on me, impossible to apply sheerly. A note: I apply this stuff by scraping as much excess as possible off the wand back into the tube. I apply to my upper lip first, then smoosh my lips together to color the bottom lip, then patch any places that got missed. I let it dry a full minute before putting on my beeswax lip balm. Then I'm set. I'm not a stickler for wearing lipstick every day, but I am thinking of getting a more neutral shade of either this or MF Lipfinity. |
