Hmmm...even Starlight is now on the iffy list. It's a damn good shadow, but then so is Whisper, which I got rid of in favor of Vapour/Shroom. I'm wondering if I'm doomed to change over to high end shadows. Well, doomed is probably the wrong word. I think it all depends on how many shadows you want to own...if it's lots, then you might be better off mixing the high with the low. If you own only a few shadows...the mythic three, for example...then buying them all high end probably wouldn't be such a big deal.

My best guess is that Revlon will put out, soon, powder shadows that are almost comparable to MAC, in the same way they rolled out the Ab Fabs. Their wet/dry shadows, imo, are not worth buying, but that was "old" Revlon. Currently the best powder shadows available low end are the Kashuk ones.

1. Tinted frankenmoisturizer...I mixed this up slightly differently...more jojoba oil, Purpose moisturizer rather than Neutrogena Sensitive Skin sunblock (which I've run out of), L'Oreal Feel Naturale in "Sand Beige" and "Buff," plus the usual Neut. Combination Skin moisturizer and L'Oreal Futur-e. It sounds elaborate but it is basically products I already have, which I'm using up. The jojoba oil makes the whole thing softer.

* u.b.f. (the usual base face)
* a skosh of L'Oreal Colour Fresco "Iced Coffee" on outer corners of eyes, blending into crease. Hm. More, not less, of this is better.
* MF Lipfinity "Ethereal" with Lip Trip beeswax lip balm over it (it lasts much longer than the included top coat, plus it's matte)

Stash Changes

I got two more Lipfinities, "Radiant" and "Iced." "Radiant" is good, it's definitely pink, but without that loud fuchsia edge. "Ethereal" is also good, I wore it "out" today...very satisfied (at least for now, heh heh). But "Iced," I dunno. I thought it would be a straightforward nude, but it really isn't...it's hard to describe. It's light, it has brown, but it's also sort of pink. Well it's too soon to say about any of them, really. The true test is time.

9. "Iced Coffee"--I just bought this today. I'll admit I was more tempted to buy either "Gold Coin"--a pale, silvery, not too shimmery champagne shade--or "Pistachio Ice"--pale shimmery green. But I'm already drowning in light, white shades. "Iced Coffee" is really gorgeous on me...it's lightish brown shimmer, with a touch of pink somewhere. Browner, less golden, less pink than my SK "Golden" shadow. The application is really goofproof too--the crayon form is excellent, you can touch it exactly where you want it and blend quickly with your fingertip. I'll have to see how well it lasts and whether it's a crease-o-rama.

So far so good.

* usual base face (topical antibiotic, which is working well, tinted frankenmoisturizer, loose frankenpowder).

* a touch of Neutrogena "Sweet Raisin" blush. It's not as sublime as Lancome "Rose Charmant," but it's ten bucks. Conversely, it cost ten bucks where Jane is barely $4, Maybelline maybe $6, Sonia Kashuk, $8. It is better than all 3. It's less than L'Oreal blushes, which are $12 now, and it is better than L'Oreal imo. So it's only ten bucks, and it is worth ten bucks.

The dang thing has been axed around here. All of the new Jane stands feature the new card packaging, and I have never seen LC on any card. Well. There's always MAC 3-D. SK "Lust" Lip Sheer, I've decided, is not gonna do it, since it's a sheer. The beauty of LC is that it is a full coverage lipstick that looks as natural as a sheer, but as good as a lipstick. *sigh*

* Usual base face stuff.
* Eyes: SK "Golden" eyeshadow on lids, concentrated on the outer thirds, blending up into crease. Lined with Revlon PowderLiner "Brown Suede."
* No lipstick.

Hm. I just realized today that "Golden" is the shadow I was looking for...the contour shadow. I don't suppose it's what anyone else would call a contour shadow, but it's what I was looking for...a golden, sheer soft brown with pink shimmer.

Which leaves me with a slot for another shadow. Heh heh. What I want now is a frivolous shadow...to match my frivolous lipstick (SK Lip Sheer "Magic" which I bought on a whim). A shadow for the sake of having a shadow, a shadow I do not need.

It can't be light or white...I have SK Whisper, Blossom, Starlight and MAC Vapour. I doubt it should be too dark...the only liner color I ever wear is dark brown (the "Brown Suede") and then I have SK "Plum" for when I get bored (I haven't, yet). Maybe it should really be a colored shadow. Like, a pastel shadow, something an 18-year-old would wear. Eep! Color that shows as color. Shimmery lavender. Or I don't know, it's something I'll know when I see it.

Lancome "Rose Charmant" Blush Subtil--this is wonderful...a stupendously natural, idiot-proof blush. It's pink, primarily, a touch peachy (without going remotely orange), a touch brown (without looking brown on).

Neutrogena "Sweet Raisin" Soft Color blush--this is my everyday blush (it cost 1/3 of the Lancome). Not quite as sublime, but gorgeous enough...the same pink/peach/brown thing, but a tad of red in there (vs. the tad of rose in "Rose Charmant").

Eye Makeup

MAC eyeshadows
Shroom--interesting shade...soft, antique-gold, brown base shade...it's glimmery rather than shimmery.
Vapour--soft light pink. Neither matte nor shimmery.

Revlon PowderLiner "Brown Suede"--I honestly did not notice before Dain pointed it out, but this is slightly shimmery...dark brown matte, otherwise. (It's not black-dark, more like medium-dark.)

Lip Makeup

Cover Girl Outlast "Berry Preserve"--this goes on almost fuchsia at first, then it fades...it does fade...into a nice, ever so slightly bright berry color.

Sonia Kashuk Lip Sheers "Angelic" and "Magic"--"Angelic" is a nude sheer. "Magic" is sheer rose with a touch of brown and subtle shimmer.

Hemp Colors "Red Zin"--the best red lipstick for me. I haven't felt like wearing red lipstick in a long time, but I suppose I'll go through another red-lipstick phase soon (maybe in winter).
